KARYN BARR

Karyn Jeanne Barr passed away on February 23, 2025. Karyn was born January 27, 1972, in Kirkwood, Missouri, to the late Philip David Barr and Loxi Jeanne Purvines Barr.
Karyn was an avid Star Wars fan and could quote most earlier movies. In 1975, she was diagnosed with a medulla blastoma and successfully underwent surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy.
Karyn was a 50-year childhood cancer survivor who participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life events. Karyn was a member of Girl Scouts and a regular patron of the Canton Public Library.
Karyn is survived by her mother, Loxi Barr; her siblings, Kathryn Elizabeth Barr McDaniel (John) Gross (Richard) of Canton, Missouri; Michael Paul Barr (Elaine) of Arnold, Missouri; and Matthew David Barr (Chelsea) Aberdeen, Washington. She was an aunt to Kelsey McDaniel Eames (Jerad), Jenna McDaniel, Michael McDaniel (Taylor), Allison McDaniel Whitlach (Kyle), Ryley McDaniel, Arianna Barr, Natalja Barr, Luca Sherwood, Alexander Barr, AJ Barr, and great-aunt to
Rowan, Kellan, Torran, and Declan Mooney, Ryker and Ryan McDaniel.
Karyn has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.
She was predeceased by her father, Philip Barr; her grandparents, Stuart Hoyle Purvines and Norma Jean Howard Purvines, and Colonel Lincoln Hill Barr, USA Chaplain Army, and Carrie-Mae Eggleston Barr, and her brother-in-law, John Michael McDaniel.
A Memorial Visitation will be held for Karyn at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri, on February 26, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Please wear purple to honor Karyn’s favorite color and for Relay for Life.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held later.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Relay For Life of Lewis County or the Canton Public Library in memory of Karyn. For disbursement, memorial donations can be sent to Arnold Funeral Home, Canton, Missouri.
