Flag Retirement Ceremonies

The Canton American Legion Post 170 held two flag retirement ceremonies in conjunction with Flag Day 2025. The first ceremony was held in Canton at the Legion Post on June 14. American Legion Members Commander Greg Burnett, Finance Officer David Blickhan, Post Auxiliary President Leslie Moon and Bria Moon retired over 200 flags. The public is always welcomed and encouraged to attend these patriotic ceremonies.
The second flag retirement ceremony was held in La Grange at the fire station. Legion member present was Finance Officer David Blickhan, Post Auxiliary Secretary Tiffany Blickhan, La Grange firefighter Jared Henderson, and La Grange Police Officer Troy Bastin. There were over 200 flags also retired at this ceremony. The American Legion Post 170 would like to remind citizens of the two flag retirement collection boxes available- one is at the American Legion Post at 205 N 5th St in Canton, and at the Fire Station in La Grange.
