The Lewis County Leviathan Adventure Club completed the 2025 Ragnar Bourbon Chase, a 209 mile running relay, on October 3 and 4, 2025. Each of the twelve runners completed three legs of the race ranging from two to 10.8 miles. The team posted a time of 35 hours and two minutes.
There were over 200 teams entered in the race which ran from the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, KY to the Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company in Lexington, KY. What organizers described as rolling hills were more like southern mountains in the eyes of the Leviathan runners.
Local members of the team were captain, Jake De Coster, Zach Harrison, Katrina De Coster, Corey Moon and Mike Greenwell from Shelbina. Other Missouri members were Kelly Snyder from St. Louis, and Cory Bennett from Bennett Springs. Out of state runners were Mallory De Coster from Crozet, VA, Andrew De Coster from Vinton, VA, Tim De Coster from Washington, DC, and Heather Abernathy from Missoula, MT.
Heather and Mallory, along with Jake and Katrina, are veterans of two prior 200 mile Wild West Relays in Colorado and Wyoming with Tim running in one of those. The club is already planning new adventures for 2026 which will include its cornerstone event, the Lewis County Leviathan Adventure Race on March 29, 2026, right here in Lewis County.
