Marilyn P. Coons, 71 of Canton, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Country Aire Retirement Center in Lewistown, Missouri.
She married Kenneth Gale Sherwood on May 29, 1971 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1987. She later married Johnnie Shepherd and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1999. She was united in marriage to Jack Coons on May 25, 2002 at Kahoka, Missouri.
Marilyn worked at Culver-Stockton College and OC’s in Canton. She liked sunflowers, gardening, fishing and spending time at the cabin. She always spoke the truth and loved spending time with her family and she loved her animals.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Coons of Canton, Mo.; a son, K.G. Sherwood of Canton, Mo.; two grandchildren, Dakota (Cara) Sherwood of Canton, Mo. and Kayla Sherwood of Kahoka, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Coldyn Sherwood, Benelli Sherwood, Jensen Baum, Callum Baum and Azaiah Baum; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a sister, Gladys Hinton and three brothers, Junior, Melvin and Albert Hinton.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 4 until 8 PM at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri. Inurnment will be in Forest Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
