DENNIS “JERSEY” RIKER

Dennis Stanley “Jersey” Riker, age 67, of the LaBelle Manor Nursing Home in LaBelle, Mo., died Dec. 25, 2016 in the home. He was born June 20, 1949 in Newark, New Jersey a son of Stanley Lambert and Ruth Catherine Bernbom Riker. Jersey grew up in north central New Jersey, attended Culver Stockton College, worked as a truck mechanic and enjoyed riding and working on his motorcycles. He was nicknamed "Jersey" by his midwestern friends. He spent a number of his later years in Lewis County Nursing Home and the LaBelle Manor under the good care of many kind and dedicated nurses. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Riker and Melinda Shoemaker; son in law James Shoemaker; grandchildren, Nicholas Riker, Isaac Walton, Haylee Walton, Noah Walton, Riley Walton, Brenden Shoemaker and Kierstin Shoemaker; his sister, Kathy Rodgers and brother in law Rick Rodgers. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held December 29, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Mo., with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Visitation was held prior to services in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: James Shoemaker, Nicholas Riker, Isaac Walton, Haylee Walton, Brenden Shoemaker and Noah Walton Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, IL.
