BETTY BEEMAN
Betty Maxine Cottrell Beeman, daughter of Hiram Ezra and Gail Mary Kate (Solter) Hull, was born May 10, 1930, in LaGrange, Missouri and peacefully departed this life October 5, 2021, at her home in Jefferson City at the age of ninety-one years, five months, and 5 days.
Betty was baptized at an early age of only a few months old in 1930 in LaGrange, Missouri where she grew up and graduated from LaGrange High School on May 13, 1948. As a young adult she played the organ for many years at the St. Peters Lutheran Church also in LaGrange.
She was united in marriage on July 13, 1948, to Floyd L. Cottrell; of that marriage were born two sons; Dennis Lee Cottrell and Donald Floyd Cottrell. On February 14, 1976, Betty was united again in marriage to Richard O. Beeman until his passing in 1990.
Betty worked for Motorola in her younger years and worked twenty years for the Department of Economic Development Block Grant Program. She, as any caring mother and wife, had a second full time job of taking care of her family.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City for 25 years where she faithfully attended services and bible study. In her last days of life here on earth she still enjoyed her daily devotional every morning. Betty was fully ready to meet her Lord and Savior as she received her last communion on the Friday before her passing.
Betty started the Sweet Adeline Chapter in Jefferson City. She also enjoyed cooking, music, playing the organ, holiday block parties, square dancing, sewing and making clothes, flowers, gardening, canning, and most importantly she enjoyed spending time her family and loved ones.
Betty is survived by her special friend of thirty plus years, Phil Neal of Jefferson City; two sons, Dennis Cottrell (Martha) of Lees Summit, Mo.; Donald Cottrell (Catherine) of Richland, Mo.; five grandchildren, Justin Cottrell of Grand Junction, Colo., Daniel Cottrell of Richland, Mo., Michael Cottrell (Barbra) of Eldridge, Mo., Crystal Johnson (Micheal) of Richland, Mo., and Megan Theis (Alan) of Lees Summits, Mo.; nine great grandchildren, Anna Bell (Tyler), Joshua Cottrell (Marisela), Kelsey Sandy (Ben), Lindsey Roberts(Alan), Tyler Hill, Paige Moore (Tyson), Lauren Cottrell, Shawn Cottrell and Brenden Cottrell; nine great great-grandchildren, Emma, Kennedy, Ella, Eli, Noah, Rosalee, Xavier, Ramsey, and Parker; several other family members and many great friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Gail Mary Kate; her husband’s, Floyd and Richard; three sisters, Clara Mae, Rosemary and Jean; and one infant brother, Ralph.
Betty was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; who was full of life and laughter. She will always hold a special place in our hearts, be greatly missed by so many but never forgotten. Until we meet again.
Funeral services were held Oct. 8, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. Visitation was held prior to services. Graveside service were held Oct. 8, 2021 at Maywood Cemetery in Maywood, Missouri.
