PHILIP BARR

Philip David Barr, 79, died September 8, 2022, at his home. Philip was born June 21, 1943, in Fairhaven, Vermont, to the late Colonel Lincoln Hill Barr, USA Champlain Corps, and the late Carrie Mae Eggleston Barr.

Philip married Loxi Jeanne Purvines on September 18, 1964, in Florida while he was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. To this union was born Kathryn Elizabeth Barr McDaniel (John) Gross (Richard) of Canton, Missouri, Michael Paul Barr (Elaine) of Arnold, Missouri, Karyn Jeanne Barr, and Matthew David Barr (Chelsea) Seattle, Washington.
He leaves grandchildren Kelsey McDaniel Eames (Jerad), Jenna McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Allison McDaniel Whitlach (Kyle), Ryley McDaniel, Arianna Barr, Natalja Barr, Luca Sherwood, Alexander Barr, AJ Barr, and great-grandchildren, Rowan Mooney, Kellan Mooney, Torran Mooney, Declan Mooney and Ryker McDaniel.

Also surviving is one brother Timothy Barr (Helen), Washington, Ester Brown (Jerry), California, and Eunice Starnes, Florida.

He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, Stuart Hoyle Purvines and Norma Jean Howard Purvines, and his son-in-law John Michael McDaniel.

Phil proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 – 1965. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri from 1967 – 1991 and finished his Chrysler career in Twinsburg, Ohio, retiring with 30 years of service. He and Loxi retired to Canton, Missouri, in the fall of 1998.

Cremation has taken place and a family memorial service will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Phil to Relay For Life of Lewis County, the Canton Public Library, or the Purvines Genealogical Library/Lewis County Historical Society. Memorial donations can be sent to Arnold Funeral Home, Canton, Missouri, for disbursement.
