Richard Arthur Pace, 81, of Canton, Missouri died January 23,2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

The son of Carl and Agnes Keller Pace was born on February 11, 1941 at Fairmount, Indiana.

He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Evans on July 15, 2006 at Paulden, Arizona.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1962 until his retirement in 1983 as a First Sergeant. He served in Vietnam, Germany and stateside. In 1963, he was selected to be stationed with the Army’s 3rd Infantry Regiment Old Guard Soldiers. That same year he rode the lead horse of the horse drawn caisson that carried President John F. Kennedy to Arlington Cemetery. He was a member and former Commander of Otto Bruner Post #170. He liked to remodel houses and go fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pace of Canton, Mo.; children, Terri Jo Bradford of Marion, In., Susan (Mik) Wine of Huntington, In., Carl Pace of Huntington, In. and step-daughter, Jody Brassfield of Quincy, Ill.; eight grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a sister, Sue Pace of Elwood, In.; three brothers, Jim Pace of Elwood, In., Raymond Pace of Quincy, Ill., and John Pace of Silver City, N.M.; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Barry Pace, sister, Valerie Logan and a brother, Fred Pace.

Graveside memorial services and inurnment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Marion National Cemetery at Marion, Indiana.
