Mary Louise Brown, 87, of rural Lewistown, Mo., died December 23, 2024, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill. Born August 22, 1937, in Tolona, Mo., the daughter of Leslie Elmer and Dora Evalena (Brumbaugh) Puls. She married Kenneth Ray Brown in Ewing, Mo., on February 20, 1965. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2017.
Mary Lou worked as a cook for the Lewis County School District for 25 years, at LaGrange Elementary School and Highland Elementary School, retiring in 2006. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls throughout the county. She was a member of the Ten Mile Baptist Church. She spent many years serving as the Foods Leader for the Ten Mile 4-H Club.
Survivors include sons, Paul David Brown, Ewing, Mo., and Troy Neil (Tracy) Brown, LaGrange, Mo.; daughters, Diane Louise (Jeff) Casebier and Debra Lynn (Dusty) Yates, Canton, Mo.; sisters, Barbara Puls and Neva Scobee, Quincy, Ill.; brothers, James T. (Judi) Puls, Chandler, Ariz., and William H. (Betty) Puls, Palmyra, Mo.; sister in law, Bonnie Bronestine, Ewing, Mo.; grandsons, Kegan (Katie) Brown, Canton, Mo., Dalton Brown and Jacob Brown, Lewistown, Mo., Michael (Grace) Casebier, Bradley Casebier, Remington Yates and Hunter Yates, Canton, Mo.; granddaughters, Megan (Ryan) Chinnis, Columbia, Mo., and Sydney Casebier, Canton, Mo.; great grandsons Case and Reid Brown, Canton, Mo.; great granddaughter Adalee Chinnis, Columbia, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl in infancy and Leslie Puls, Jr.; two sisters, M. Pauline York and Dora Nadine Davis; four brothers-in-law, Roy Kenneth York, James Davis, Albert Scobee and Wayne Bronestine; sister-in-law Lorraine Puls and an infant sister of her husband Kenneth.
Graveside services and burial were held December 27, 2024 at Memorial Cemetery in LaGrange, Mo., with Pastor Rusty Schultz officiating. Her grandchildren were casket bearers. Memorials may be made to Ten Mile Baptist Church or Country Aire Retirement Estate Auxiliary (CARE Auxiliary) and may be left at or mailed to Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435.
