JANA MARIE (KUHN) SCOTT CASPER

Jana Marie (Kuhn) Scott Casper, 69, of Lewistown, Mo., left for her heavenly abode March 23, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones in her home.

She was born in Quincy, Ill., on November 18, 1953 to Gerald Joseph Kuhn and Dorothy Marie (Whaley) Kuhn. She was a graduate of Unity High School in Mendon, Ill. She later graduated from Blessing College of Nursing 1975. She worked at Blessing Hospital in the ICU, dialysis center, Long Term Care Unit, and med-surg unit from 1975-1993. During that time she also worked as a registered nurse for Upjohn Home Care. After leaving Blessing Hospital she worked in the medical office for Dr. Micheal Shih, MD OB/GYN. She was later the director of nursing at Lewis County Nursing Home. She retired in 2001, at that time she served as the outpatient clinic coordinator and nursing supervisor at the Illinois Veterans Home.

Jana married Charles Edward Scott on October 8, 1977 and together they had five children. After Charles’ passing, she remarried William “Bill” Casper on May 28, 1993 and was blessed when she also gained his three children.

Jana was an active member of the Cursillo Community from 1989 until her passing. She served as Rectora of Cursillo #178 in April of 2000. She also served as a board member. She was a member of the Sisters of Solidarity at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing.

Jana was an avid collector of Precious Moments and enjoyed yearly trips to the Chapel in Carthage, Mo., for the Precious Moments Family Reunion with her daughter, granddaughters and sisters. She also enjoyed camping, puzzles, trout fishing trips with her family, and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband William Casper of Lewistown, Mo.; four sons, Tracy (Jo Ann) Scott of Miller, Mo., Vincent (Amanda) Casper of Cheney, Kan., Joe (Katrina) Casper of Quincy, Ill.; Jacob (Kayla) Scott of LaGrange, Mo.; two daughters Angela South of St. Louis, Mo., Kristen (Dave) Goings of Durham, Mo.; Grandchildren: August Jones, Scarlett South of St Louis; Andrew, Madelyn, and Zachary Scott of Miller Mo.; Oliver, Elizabeth, Theodore, Henry, Adrian, Gregory, Sylvester, and Baby Boy Casper of Cheney, KS; Seth (Megan), Cole, William, and Hannah Goings and Patience Rusi of Durham, Mo.; Kennadi, Anabel, Millie and Josephine Casper of Quincy Ill.; Bentley, Lilah, Hunter, and Kelce Scott of LaGrange, Mo.; three sisters: Karen (Dean) Herring, Brenda (Mark) Sprague, Cindy (Eric) Cassens; one brother: Wayne (Lucy) Kuhn and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents as well as her mother and father-in-laws, her first husband Charles Scott, daughter Stephanie Sue Scott, son Michael Ray Scott, nephew Chad Herring, niece Angela Kuhn, and brother-in-law Gary Scott. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 27, 2023 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, MO with Father Callistus Okoroji officiating. Visitation was held March 26, 2023 at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing with a Prayer and Rosary Service.

Honorary Pallbearers: Hannah Goings, Lilah Scott, Anabel Casper, Millie Casper, Adrian Casper, Hunter Scott, Scarlet South, Kelce Scott, Gregory Casper, Josephine Casper, Sylvester Casper, Megan Goings and Abigail Flanagan.

Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in La Grange, MO.
